MAGICorp is a remote computer slide making service bureau which produces high quality 35mm slides, transparencies and prints. It can accept data of images created on a number of IBM PC/Compatibles software packages, graphics workstations and mainframe packages. Clearly, the adoption of a CGM standard offers us a tremendous advantage. It allows us to reproduce images from various sources without having to write separate drivers or conversion routines for each package. This paper discusses some general techniques we used in implementing the standard, as well as some of the problems we encountered.
