Zusammenfassung

Die Normen der heutigen westlichen Gesellschaft sind immer noch vor dem Hintergrund der jüdisch-christlichen Tradition zu sehen. Danach war nur das Sexualverhalten natürlich, das der Fortpflanzung diente. Sexualität war ein notwendiges Übel, gepriesen wurde die Abstinenz; selbst Sexualität in der Ehe mit dem Ziel einer Schwangerschaft war „eher Grund zur Verlegenheit“ (Haeberle 1983, S. 304).
