Abstract
In the last 10 years breast-preserving therapy in breast cancer has become a standardized procedure in regard to surgical technique, axillary dissection, and necessary radiotherapy. All centers which followed this procedure from the beginning now have more than 10 years’ experience in this field. Discussion of the experience gained should enable the optimization of surgical and irradiation technique both to improve cancer treatment and to avoid late complications.
