Abstract

An understanding of the behaviour of He in metals is important because He is generated in charged tritium storage media and in the structural materials of fission reactors, accelerators, breeders and future fusion reactors. Helium accumulation causes deterioration of the material properties and may influence the useful lifetime of reactor components.
