Abstract
Internal calcium turnover is understood mainly as the transport of calcium from bone to the extracellular space and back to bone during a certain time interval. This flux is quite large amounting to 3 – 5 g Ca in 6 hours in adults. This is approximately ten times the amount of calcium absorbed in the intestine during the same period of time.
