Abstract

Verification and Validation form a crucial component of systems development. While verification concerns itself with the process of checking whether the conceptual model has been acceptably translated into an operational program, Validation refers to the process of confirming that the conceptual model reflects the reality to an acceptable level. This chapter describes the experience gained during the initial validation process, performed in a company, of the Generalized Job Shop Control System which has been developed at UMIST by the author, hereafter referred to as the Model.

Dr. Harinder Jagdev is also author of Chapter 15. His biography and photo appear on p. 233.
