Zusammenfassung

Die Erleichterung operativer Eingriffe am Auge durch Maßnahmen der Anästhesie ist nicht erst seit 1884 bekannt, als der Wiener Arzt KOLLER die lokale Anwendung von Kokain demonstrierte, hatten doch schon 1847 BRETT und PLOMLEY (6, 15, 24) über erfolgreiche Äthernarkosen bei ophthalmochirurgischen Eingriffen berichtet.
