Abstract
The functional architecture of a sonar emitting system is presented and the various functions are briefly described, in order to set the sonic transducer in its context and to mark the circuits which are influenced by the behaviour of this load. The various devices are set in the power and frequency ranges of interest. Then, using the transducer equivalent circuit, the main problems which are encountered to drive it correctly are emphasized, mainly for using it with a high constant acoustic power in a wide frequency band. Several solutions are listed and one of them is described in details. Finally, two sonar emitter technologies are presented, using respectively thyristor and transistor circuits.
