Zusammenfassung
Wir beschreiben eine Serie von 6 Fällen, bei denen nach extrakapsulärer Kataraktextraktion eine zunächst klinisch nicht erkannte Infektion auftrat. In diesen Fällen konnten wir mit Hilfe pathologischer Analyse Bakterien nachweisen, die auf den Kapselsack begrenzt waren. In einem Fall fanden sich grampositive Kokken, in 5 dieser Fälle waren morphologisch pleomorphe grampositive Bakterien nachweisbar, die bei 2 Patienten als Propionibakterium acnes identifiziert werden konnten. Wir schlagen vor, dieses Krankheitsbild mit dem Begriff „lokalisierte Endophthalmitis“ zu bezeichnen. Eine solche lokalisierte oder begrenzte Infektion sollte immer dann in die Differentialdiagnose einbezogen werden, wenn eine langandauernde, schwelende postoperative Entzündung oder das klinische Bild eines „Toxic Lens Syndromes“ auftritt.
