Abstract

The development of lymphocytic thyroiditis is well-known in dogs, particularly in purebred beagles (Tucker 1962; Mawdesley-Thomas and Jolly 1967; Beier-waltes and Nishiyama 1968; Mawdesley-Thomas 1968; Musser and Graham 1968; Fritz et al. 1970; Niki et al. 1972; Bigazzi and Rose 1975). The highest incidence of thyroiditis is found in dogs between 30 months and 7 years of age (Fritz et al. 1970; Bigazzi and Rose 1975).
