Calcium Antagonists and Other Cerebroprotective Drugs

  • Chapter
New Trends in Diagnosis and Management of Stroke

Abstract

There are many drugs offered on the market to protect brain against ischemic damage and to improve brain function after ischemic attacks. Calcium antagonists and calcium-entry blockers are a group of drugs which seems to be most prominent in this respect. Therefore, the discussion of the effects to calcium-entry blockers assumes a large part of this presentation, although certain other drugs will also be discussed.
