Management of relative fetopelvic disproportion
For as long as we can remember and history can record, the matter of varying degrees of disparity in the mechanical relationship between the fetus and the maternal pelvis has been a problem to those attending the laboring patient. Whether the cause is too large a baby, too small a pelvis, or malpresentations which effectively increase the diameter of the fetal vertex, the end result is the same, a discrepancy in the “fit” between the presenting part and the bony pelvis.
