Zusammenfassung
Im Rahmen der biologisch-psychiatrischen Forschung wurde in den letzten Jahren mit verschiedenen Untersuchungsmethoden versucht, einen biologischen Marker für psychische Erkrankungen zu finden. Ein Marker ist eine biologische Substanz (Protein, Enzym, Hormon), deren Vorhandensein, Auftreten bzw. vermehrtes Vorkommen in Geweben oder Körperflüssigkeiten ein unverwechselbares, mittels geeigneter Nachweismethoden erkenn- und bestimmbares physiologisches bzw. auf einen Krankheitszustand hindeutendes Strukturkennzeichen darstellt (Pschyrembel 1986).
