Topics in the Theory of the Firm

  • Chapter
Microeconomic Theory

Abstract

In this chapter we present two types of extensions of the traditional model of the firm. The first type explores different modes of management and the second type looks at the dynamics of the firm’s behavior.

Essentially all of the matrices exposited in this chapter appear here for the first time except for Section 3 which is based on El Hodiri and Takayama (1973). For the original formulation of the model of labor-managed firms, see Vanek (1970).
