Abstract
In the preceding sections, the structure and fiber connections of the brain stem of dracomorph lizards, in particular of the savanna monitor lizard Varanus exanthematicus, have been reviewed. In this final section, the main results will be surveyed and some comments on the similarities and differences between the reptilian and the mammalian brain stem will be presented.
