It may be appropriate to remark that the phenomenon in question arises only for strong couplings between the central oscillator and the bath; a perturbative treatment of the coupling is there-fore not possible.
There is an interesting strong-coupling anomaly in the effective initial condition for the Wigner function. The Fokker-Planck equation with the generator (23) holds only for t 226B 1/α. In the time interval for 0 2264 t 2248 1; the reduced Wigner function relaxes from W (p, q, O) to Weff (p, q, O) = W(p + (;-) q, q, O). This effective initial condition is accounted for in (25, 26).
003Cqm pm003E denotes a moment of the Wigner function and equals the
expectation value of the symmetrized product {Qm Pn} of the corresponding operators.
