Zusammenfassung
Psychologische Interventionen können in vielen Bereichen der Diabetes-Therapie unterstützend und motivierend wirken, wenn auch die Erforschung und Erprobung erst am Anfang steht und viele Therapieversuche nur kurzzeitig durchgeführt wurden. Vor allem Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der Krankheitsbewältigung, zur Streßreduktion (Entspannung, EMG-Biofeedback, Hypnose) und zur Beeinflussung einzelner Compliancevariablen versprechen Erfolge. Die verschiedenen Ansätze zur Familientherapie scheinen besonders beim sog. Brittle-Diabetes erfolgversprechend. Diese Maßnahmen können zu einer Stabilisierung des labilen Blutzuckerspiegels, zu einer Reduktion der notwendigen Insulindosis und zu Verhinderung oder Hinausschieben von Spätkomplikationen führen.
Die Zukunft auf diesem Gebiet wird nicht nur von der Entwicklung und Erprobung neuer psychotherapeutischer Techniken abhängen, sondern von der Integration und Akzeptanz dieser Angebote im Behandlungsalltag des Diabetikers.
