Cancer of the Oesophagus

  • Chapter
Surgical Oncology

Abstract

There are still no unanimous opinions, or even a general consensus, among those in various specialties in different parts of the world who have to treat patients with cancer of the oesophagus. However, for the time being, surgical therapy seems to be recognized as the treatment of choice whenever feasible. Attempts to improve the results currently involve the association, before, sometimes during and often after surgery, of other modes of treatments.
