Osseous X-Ray Findings in Thalassemia Minor

  • Chapter
Radiology of Thalassemia

Abstract

The striking roentgenographic changes in the skeletal system encountered in homozygous thalassemia, particularly in thalassemia major, have been recognized for many years and are well documented in this book. However, little attention has been directed to the underlying osseous abnormalities of the carriers of thalassemia. Therefore, this chapter will deal with bone radiology of thalassemia trait or minor, on the basis of personal experience and the data so far reported on this subject in the literature.
