Value of intraoperative techniques in improving bypass patency

Abstract

To save a useful leg despite arteriosclerotic changes is an old medical challenge. One legend is that the saints Kosmas and Damian transplanted the entire leg of a dead black man to a white man with extended gangrene. In the story the patient was able to walk after the operation and praised the Lord for that.
