Summary
The traditional method of a semiclosed endarterectomy deserves new interest in the reconstructive vascular surgery of femoro-popliteal arteriosclerotic occlusions. The meticulous operative technique is essential: A smooth proximal and distal transition (patchplasty) from the endarterectomy to the adjacent vessels, a smoothened inner surface, and intraoperative confirmation of a complete endarterectomy (angiography, angioscopy) determine the success of the procedure.
