Zusammenfassung
Anders als in der Allgemein- und Unfallchirurgie stellt in der Gefäßchirurgie schon eine oberflächliche Wundinfektion eine potentielle vitale Bedrohung für den Operierten dar (Tabelle 1). Bei Einbeziehung eines Gefäßtransplantats in den Infekt und den klinischen Zeichen einer Bakteriämie bzw. Sepsis liegt die Gesamtletalität trotz der Verfügbarkeit hochwirksamer Antibiotika nach wie vor zwischen 30 und 50%, nach Rekonstruktionen an der thorakalen oder abdominellen Aorta beträgt sie sogar bis zu 75% (4, 6).
