Nitrate, die Ester der Salpetersäure mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen, stellen seit über 100 Jahren einen Eckpfeiler der anti-ischämischen Therapie der koronaren Herzerkrankung dar und werden heute nach wie vor in großem Umfang eingesetzt.
