Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung von Patienten mit rezidivierenden ventrikulären Tachykardien oder Kammerflimmern ist nach wie vor ein schwieriges Problem. Ersten Berichten zufolge ging die empirische medikamentöse antiarrhythmische Behandlung mit einer außerordentlich hohen Rezidivrate „arrhythmischer Ereignisse“und einer hohen Mortalität in einigen Untergruppen einher. Die trotz medikamentöser antiarrhythmischer Behandlung, hohe Inzidenz von Arrhythmierezidiven forderte die Untersucher heraus, nach neuen, rationaleren Wegen einer Behandlung dieser Patienten zu suchen.
