Zusammenfassung

Kongenitale Mißbildungen sind die Folge einer unvollkommenen Embryogenese. Sie sind zum Geburtszeitpunkt vorhanden, auch wenn sie erst später diagnostiziert werden. Kongenitale Mißbildungen können allein oder multiple auftreten. Ihre klinische Bedeutung ist sehr unterschiedlich. Etwa 14% der Neugeborenen weisen eine einzelne unbedeutende Mißbildung auf, 0,7% der Neugeborenen haben mehrere schwerere Mißbildungen (Tabelle 17.1). Die Häufigkeit der schwereren Mißbildungen ist zum Zeitpunkt der Konzeption höher (10–15%), die Mehrheit der betroffenen Feten endet jedoch als Spontanabort (Abb. 17.1). Etwa 7–10% der Spontanaborte werden durch schwere Mißbildungen verursacht.
