Zusammenfassung
In den letzten Jahren wurde Allopurinol verstärkt zur Rezidivprophylaxe des Kalziumoxalatsteinleidens eingesetzt. (2, 4, 5, 9, 12). Die Basis für diese Therapie besteht in dem Mechanismus, daß durch die Senkung der Harnsäureausscheidung eine mögliche Kristallisation von Kalziumoxalat inhibiert wird (2, 5, 11, 12). Die Wirkung des Allopurinols zur Reduzierung der Harnsäurebildung erfolgt über die Hemmung des Enzyms Xanthinoxidase. Dabei steigt gleichzeitig die Ausscheidung von Hypoxanthin und Xanthin an.
