Zusammenfassung

Die perkutane Nephrolithotomie (PNL) setzt sich aus mehreren, seit Jahren bekannten Techniken zusammen. Eine Synthese dieser Techniken einschließlich mechanischer. Steinentfernung, Chemolyse und Ultraschallzertrümmerung wurde 1980 erstmals vorgestellt (Alken und Altwein). Diese ersten Erfahrungen deuteten darauf hin, daß die PNL eine Alternative zur offenen Steinoperation darstellt. Seit dieser Zeit sind mehr als 5000 derartige Eingriffe weltweit durchgeführt worden. Mehrere Modifikationen wurden beschrieben, die alle eine vergleichbare Erfolgsrate von bis zu 95% und mehr aufweisen.
