Zusammenfassung

Der Herzchirurgie kommt in der Therapie der infektiösen Endokarditis eine Schlüsselrolle zu: Einerseits fängt sie diejenigen Kranken auf, deren konservative Behandlung gescheitert ist, zum anderen erzeugt sie ein Substrat in Form valvulärer Prothesenfremdkörper, an dem sich Keime ansiedeln können. Meine Aufgabe wird es sein, unsere Erfahrung mit der nativen Endokarditis darzulegen. Erstere wollen wir nach der Definition von Stinson beschreiben, der sowohl die klinischen Zeichen und Symptome einer Endokarditis wie der Nachweis frischer Entzündungen der Klappe bei der Operation zugrunde- liegt (6). Eine positive bakterielle oder Pilzkultur ist danach keine absolute Voraussetzung für die Diagnose.
