Zusammenfassung

Die heute geübte Technik der aortokoronaren Überbrückungsoperation zur Behandlung der koronaren Herzerkrankung wurde beginnend 1967 von Favoloro (1) an der Cleveland-Klinik entwickelt. Schon bald danach erweiterte Johnson in Milwaukee die Operation auf den Mehrfachbypass mit dem Ziel der totalen Revaskularisation, dessen Verfachter er geblieben ist.
