Abstract
A new experimental system for the study of vibrational energy relaxation is presented. Infrared excitation of vibrational modes and probing via anti-Stokes Raman scattering allows the direct observation of vibrational energy transfer between and out of CH-stretching modes with a temporal resolution of approx. 160 fs.
