Femtosecond demagnetization of ferromagnetic CoPt3 thin films and Ni nanoparticles

Abstract

We have studied the spin dynamics in CoPt3 thin films and Ni nanoparticles. It is shown that a ferro-paramagnetic transition can be induced in a few hundreds of femtoseconds. In addition, the spin relaxation in the nanoparticles displays a super-paramagnetic behavior.
