Zusammenfassung
Die Funktionen physiologischer Motilitätsabläufe im Gastrointestinaltrakt sind vielfältig. Zu den elementaren Aufgaben der Motilität gehört zweifelsohne der gerichtete Transport von Nahrung, Nahrungsbestandteilen, Verdauungssekreten und unverdaulichen Nahrungsresten durch den Gastrointestinaltrakt. Durch dynamische Hochdruckzonen und den koordinierten Ablauf verschiedener Kontraktionszustände wird unerwünschter Reflux vermieden sowie Bevorratung und kontrollierte Entleerung gewährleistet. Im Interesse einer möglichst effizienten Ausnutzung der Nahrungsbestandteile trägt die gastrointestinale Motilität neben mechanischer Zerkleinerung von Nahrungspartikeln mittels Durchmischung der Nahrung mit Verdauungssekreten zu deren chemischer Aufschlüsselung bei. Gleichzeitig stellt die intensive Durchmischung des Speisebreis eine optimale Benetzung der resorbierenden Schleimhäute mit dem Chymus sicher. Eine spezifische Funktion der gastrointestinalen Motilität stellt der retrograde Transport des Chymus im Rahmen des Erbrechens dar [1]. Desweiteren gilt die gastrointestinale Motilität als einer der wichtigsten Faktoren in der Verhinderung einer bakteriellen Fehlbesiedelung des Darms und der damit verbundenen Komplikationen [2, 3]. Dies unterstreicht die besondere Bedeutung gastrointestinaler Motilität in ihrer Interaktion nicht nur mit Sekretion und Resorption, sondern auch mit (Mechanismen) der Immunabwehr.
