Abstract
This chapter describes the second step in a unified design methodology. This step is “system analysis”. This unified methodology employs the unified representation for conceptual modelling developed in Chaps. 3 and 4. The system analysis step makes extensive use of the i-schema format for describing items (Sect. 5.2), and the o-schema format for describing objects (Sect. 5.5). The first step in the unified design methodology is requirements specification discussed in Chap. 7.
