Zusammenfassung
Innerhalb des vielfältigen Spektrums der umweltbedingten Lungenerkrankungen ist das Bronchialkarzinom eine der schwersten und in den moisten Fällen schicksalhaft zum Tode führende Erkrankung. Die schlechte Prognose hat ihren Grund in den unzureichenden Früherkennungsmöglichkeiten und in der besonderen biologischen Aktivität dieses Tumors. Die klinischen und grundlagenwissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen der letzten Jahre haben unser Verständnis zur Karzinogenese, zur Genetik und zur Rolle des inhalativen Rauchens sowie der Umwelt als den ätiologisch wichtigsten auslösenden Faktoren entscheidend verbessert.
