Zusammenfassung
Peritonitis ist das Krankheitsbild, welches als entzündliche Reaktion auf das Eindringen einer Noxe in die Peritonäalhöhle entsteht. Meist ist diese Noxe bakteriell, die Peritonitis damit eine bakterielle Infektionskrankheit. Man unterscheidet primäre und sekundäre Peritonitiden. Die primäre Peritonitis ist selten und kommt heute praktisch nur bei Patienten ganz bestimmter Risikogruppen vor. Die sekundäre bakterielle Peritonitis entsteht durch Besiedelung der Bauchhöhle mit Keimen meist der Darmflora, und übertrifft die primäre Peritonitis an Häufigkeit und klinischer Bedeutung bei weitem.
