Abstract

As its name indicates, fibrous dysplasia is not a tumour properly speaking. It rather represents an invasion of the bone by connective tissue of bony origin. It exists in two forms: monostotic (a solitary lesion), extremely rare in the hand, and polyostotic, in which the skeleton of the hand is very often affected.
