Zusammenfassung
An der Orthopädischen Universitätsklinik Wien besteht seit langem eine besondere Tradition in der chirurgischen Behandlung maligner Knochentumoren. Aus der intensiven Beschäftigung mit einer großen Zahl der meisten Fälle aus Österreich, teilweise aber auch aus dem benachbarten Ausland, hat sich eine besondere Erfahrung bei der Behandlung von malignen Extremitätentumoren ergeben [11, 14, 15]. Sobald die technische Möglichkeit und die onkologische Rechtfertigung für Resektionsoperationen und damit Extremitätenerhaltung bei malignen Knochentumoren gegeben war [10, 11, 13], hat die Endoprothetik zum Knochengelenkersatz einen entscheidenden Aufschwung genommen. In den 60er Jahren wurden vereinzelt Spezialanfertigungen, v. a. für den proximalen Femur in Auftrag gegeben [34]. Erst in den 70er Jahren wurde mit der Forderung nach extremitätenerhaltenden Operationen eine zunehmende Vielfalt von Endoprothesen für den proximalen Humerus, proximalen Femur und zuletzt auch für die Knieregion gefertigt [9, 12, 29, 32, 37]. Mit der zunehmenden Anwendung dieser Spezialen-doprothesen hat sich die Notwendigkeit einer sofort verfügbaren, im Operationssaal zusammensetzbaren Endoprothese ergeben.
