Abstract
The use of both the Argon and the Nd-YAG lasers for various types of glaucoma has recently become a clinical routine. Argon laser trabeculoplasty (ATT) is currently widely used as an effective treatment modality for open angle glaucoma (Schwartz et al. 1981; Thomas et al. 1981; Thomas et al. 1982; Wickham and Worthen 1979; Wilensky and Jampol 1981; Wise 1979). The use of Q-switched Nd-YAG laser in open angle glaucoma is still experimental and although promising results have been reported (Robin and Pollack 1985), better understanding of the tissue response to such energy is needed before it can be utilized therapeutically.
