Abstract
In this paper we analyse the behaviour of the quasistatic wing of the LICET lineshape. It is found that, under several experimental conditions, the simple two-level model is inadequate to describe the fall off of the spectral wing at large detunings between the LICET transition and the laser frequency. The failure comes from the fact that other levels, lying nearby the initial or the final level of the transition, do not act as true virtual states in the process and affect the lineshape in its quasistatic region.
