Es handelt sich um Leibgefühlstörungen, die überwiegend plötzlich und paroxysmal auftreten und Sekunden bis Minuten dauern. Sie können aber auch Stunden bis mehrere Tage, gelegentlich auch nach der Schilderung der Patienten kontinuierlich über Wochen, Monate und Jahre, persistieren und dabei zum Teil langsam an- und abschwellend verlaufen.
