Zusammenfassung
Der Zugang des Verfassers zum Willensproblem war vordergründig ein Interesse für Hirnvorgänge, die menschlichem Wollen zugrunde liegen; als die Un¬tersuchung 1964 begann, war darüber in der Neurophysiologie nichts bekannt (Eccles & Zeier, 1980, S. 152ff.). Der Hintergrund war eine Erfahrung aus der russischen Gefangenschaft, welche Bedeutung der Wille und die mit ihm zusammenhängende Zukunftsperspektive für humanes Überleben hat (Kornhuber, 1961; 1962). Dazu kommt das mit dem Willen zusammenhängende Freiheitsproblem (Kornhuber, 1978); das Interesse dafür wurde durch die Folgen eines einseitig emanzipatorischen Freiheitsbegriffs für das Verhalten der Jugend erhöht (Kornhuber, 1984a). Die Einsicht in die Möglichkeiten, durch vernünftiges Leben, Übung, Arznei u. a. etwas für die Freiheit eines Menschen zu tun (Kornhuber, 1983a; 1986a, b), wird durch die Erfahrung mit Kranken täglich bekräftigt. Als Methode für die Untersuchung der Hirnphysiologie des Willens wurde die Willkürmotorik gewählt (Kornhuber & Deecke, 1964,1965; Deecke, Scheid & Kornhuber, 1969; Deecke & Kornhuber, 1977, 1978; Kornhuber, 1974, 1980b, 1984b, c; Lang, Lang, Kornhuber, Deecke & Kornhuber, 1983).
