Zusammenfassung

Die Psychologie des Selbst und die Soziologie der Identität (Yardley & Honess, 1987) beschäftigen sich fast ausschließlich mit der folgenden Frage: Wie erkennt eine Person, daß sie den einen oder anderen Selbstaspekt oder Identitätsaspekt besitzt? Wie gelangt eine Person zu der Überzeugung, daß sie liberal ist, mathematisch begabt, populär oder religiös? Die Antworten auf diese Frage sind sehr unterschiedlich. Psychologisch orientierte Theorien, wie z.B. Berns (1972) Selbstwahrnehmungstheorie, postulieren, daß wir solche Schlüsse aufgrund der Beobachtung unseres eigenen Verhaltens, unserer Gefühle und Empfindungen ziehen.
