Abstract
Zhen Jiu, the Chinese name for acupuncture, meaning needling and burning, also embraces the application of moxibustion. Like “needle acupuncture,” moxibustion has a tradition going back many thousands of years. The Huang Di Nei Jing recommends moxibustion for diseases caused by coldness or damp and for weakness conditions. Often acupuncture and moxibustion are practiced together as complementary forms of treatment in the same session.
