Abstract
Already in prehistoric times, sharpened stones (“Bian” in Chinese) were applied in massage of certain parts of the body. Later bone or bamboo “needles” were used. Gold and steel needles have been found in Han Dynasty tombs (206 B. C. to 221 A. D.).
