Abstract
Can any real population satisfy the stringent conditions outlined in Lecture 2, under which our theoretical population reached Hardy- Weinberg equilibrium? Probably not; but many real populations have been shown to produce genotypes, with respect to some traits at least, in a ratio not significantly different from p2: 2pq: q2.
