Effective Breeding Size
In describing the effects of finite population size, we used as a model a Hardy-Weinberg population of infinite size, divided at random into an infinite number of lines of finite size N. We then related our measures of the effect of finite size to N; e.g., the rate of inbreeding was ΔF = 1/2N.
