Abstract
We have been considering an infinitely large random mating population carrying two gene loci on an autosome, with recombination occurring between the two loci with frequency c. Gametes produced by this population will each carry one allele from each of the two loci. Under these circumstances, as we have seen [Eqs. (9.3)], cdt represents the change in gamete frequencies from generation t to generation t +1. Therefore, if in some generation e, cde = 0, there will be no change in gamete frequencies between generation e and e + 1:
