Advances in Topical Antifungal Therapy

Abstract

Since 1980 we have investigated the effectiveness of bifonazole cream in several dermatophytoses. During these studies we sometimes found other dermatoses to improve with external bifonazole therapy. We therefore started pilot studies in rosacea, sebopsoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis, and erythrasma in addition. The results were positive, and we now use this therapy frequently. Our experiences over 5 years are presented together with some thoughts about the aetiology of these dermatoses.
