Zusammenfassung
Die Monitorüberwachung des Herzrhythmus ist fester Bestandteil sowohl der perioperativen als auch der internistischen Intensivpflege. Dies läßt sich schon allein durch die Tatsache rechtfertigen, daß die Herzfrequenz durch eine ganze Reihe anderer Körperfunktionen mitbeeinflußt wird und durch eine Vielzahl von Störungen, etwa der Atmung, der Herzleistung und anderer Vitalfunktionen, charakteristische Veränderungen erfährt. Diese können bei Überschreiten individuell eingestellter Grenzwerte mit geringem Aufwand automatisch erfaßt werden und so dem Pflegepersonal Abweichungen von der Norm und Gefährdungsmomente aufzeigen.
