Abstract

MORTON (1985) examined the spore morphology of two Glomus spp. isolated from soils with diverse physical and chemical properties and maintained in pot culture on five different plant species. Spore size, color and structure were not significantly influenced by host or soil environmental interactions. These results support the evidence that spore morphology characteristics are valid criteria for identifying VA mycorrhizal fungi. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay as an aid to taxonomy of the Endogenaceae has been demonstrated by ALDWELL et al. (1985).
